Kit Assembly Party · Tuesday, December 8
Help volunteers split our bulk supply into kits of ten, attach order forms, and box them up for block captains to deliver. Time and place coming soon. Check the box below to get the details.
Optional: you don't need to come to get your kits. Your kits are delivered to your door, and you set up your luminarias at home.
How it works: delivery and setting up your luminarias
- You order online. A kit is 10 white paper bags + 10 candles for $10.00.
- Volunteers pack the kits at the kit assembly party on Tuesday, December 8. We split our bulk supply into kits of ten, attach each order form, and box them up for each block captain. Everyone's welcome to help, but you don't need to come to get your kits. No luminarias are set up there.
- Your block captain delivers your kits to your door at least a day before the event. That's why we ask for your block.
- You set up your luminarias at home and light them at dusk on Sunday, December 13. If it rains, we move to Sunday, December 20.
Setting up your luminarias
Your kit arrives as flat bags and loose candles. You set them up at home. Supply your own sand, rocks, kitty litter, or similar to weigh down the bags.
- Open each bag and square up the bottom.
- Fold the top down about 2 inches so the bag stands firm.
- Add 2–3 inches of sand, rocks, kitty litter, etc.
- Nestle a candle upright in the center of the fill.
- Light it at dusk on Sunday, December 13 and enjoy the glow!
- Donations of any amount support the neighborhood association. This is our only annual fundraiser.
- Donations are tax-deductible. FPNA is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit (Tax ID 58-1365153).
